HOW TO REJOICE OUTLAST 2 IF YOU ARE A SCARED LITTLE KITTY CAT

So lately you’ve been hearing some pretty cool things about Outlast 2 so you make up your mind to go and try this game out but wait, you then suddenly realized that you are a big scaredy cat. So no worries, I’ve got you covered(no need to thank me).

First of all it may seem unreasonable that easily frightened people would want to play a scary new game, but I actually think there are a fair number of people out there who fit that description including me. That’s because Outlast 2 isn’t just good because it’s scary—it’s good because it’s a tense, well-written and well-designed game, with Incredible sound design and highly effective but creepy visuals.

If you want to play the game but are all worried that you’ll get bad dreams or will freak out, here are some words of wisdom.

1. PLAY DURING THE DAY
This is an obvious advice which I fully endorse. Everything automatically seems less scary during the day. This is how my friend plays any horror game

2. Surviving the first hour
As for the opening act of the game, your character is just… well completely fucked up with no weapons, no means to defend himself at all, and no option but to run or hide – resulting in some of the most panic-filled on-foot chases in all gaming. Surviving the first hour or so will give you a manageable rhythm and everything will start falling in place once you get the hang of it.

3. PLAY WITH FRIENDS
This is my key strategy. I always make sure someone else is in my room(including my pug) so I don’t have to bear the burden of horror alone. So just call in your friend or your lover and start passing the controller back and forth(still need netflix & chill ?). There is always a different sense of comfort seeing your partner who is as scared as you freaking out while that undead psychopath bisects you with his custom made chainsaw.
4. JUST RUSH FORWARD

This is a tried-and-tested recipe I sometimes use to get over my initial fear in horror games. Horror mostly consists of two feelings: DREAD & PANIC. Dread is when you’re not sure what’s around the next corner. It’s when the game is fucking with you & letting your fear of the unknown drive you crazy. Panic, meanwhile, is when that ugly monster finally breaks from the shadows and you have to deal with it but you don’t know how.

I personally feel that dread, more than panic, is what drives people away from games like this one. The fear of the unknown is almost always worse than whatever monster is actually lurking in the next room. So my advice is that you just rush forward so u know when and from where will the monster comes out and then you can retry that level again because you’re a video game character with infinite lives. Cheers !
5. EASY MODE

Oh yes u heard it right and easy mode will not make you any less of a gamer. Theoretically in outlast 2, there is actually no easy mode but practically if u take a look at the order of the difficulty mode, normal mode is actually the easy mode whereas hard is the normal mode. We just want to survive the survival horror game so go for the lowest difficulty mode and believe me, its scary enough.
6. PUT ON THE MOANA SOUNDTRACK

You know what’s not very scary? Disney’s hit 2016 animated film Moana. Just put the soundtrack on in your smartphone while you play. Even the most horrific monster won’t seem all that scary listening to your favourite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – You’re Welcome

If anyone has any other tips, do write it in the comments section. I’d be grateful to hear them.
